Welcome to the Self-Determination Wisconsin web site, your most complete source of information on Self-Determination and Self-Directed Supports (SDS) in Wisconsin. Our public system of long-term care for people with disabilities and elders is in the midst of dramatic change. We believe that the state laws and policies that govern these changes have the capacity to make Wisconsin an international leader in supporting people to have lives that make sense to them, with the support they need to do so. And, we believe that we will only achieve that outcome if those who rely upon support and services, and those who provide support and services within our communities and our agencies, work together to create and sustain this new way of working and being. Second Statewide Conference on Self- DeterminationJoin us on October 12,13 and 14, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee as we share our experiences, gain greater knowledge and work together to make Self Directed Supports work in Wisconsin. Our Mission is to help create and sustain a system in Wisconsin in which people have the support they want and need to be free, to be in control of their lives, and to be contributing members of their communities as family, friends, neighbors, workers and citizens. Our Vision is that people will participate fully in their communities with a quality of life that comes from freedom and its responsibilities, and the authority, support and resources needed to create a life that makes sense to them, in the company of others.
